Our client develops software that analyses medical images and creates diagnostic reports with next-level accuracy. An extraordinarily talented team of software engineers and computer scientists used deep learning-based networks to recognize diseases on CT and MRI scans.

The start-up has recently closed a new round of funding and the future is bright. Currently, the team is 10 people strong and the Amsterdam based office is looking to recruit a senior backend engineer.
Senior Backend Engineer
Together with a team of 3 backend engineers, you will develop the back-end infrastructure. This entails DevOps work like creating the CI/CD pipeline, automated testing, integration and development of image-processing modules. This functionality will be offered as a back-end service API, talking DICOM to the existing medical imaging systems.
There already is a prototype for detecting early-stage lung cancer, that will be turned into a quality product that can be approved as a medical device with FDA approval.
Tasks
- Gather requirements, create design and develop the infrastructure for the Deep Learning and API back-ends;
- Work in a structured way, coordinate specs, develop workflows and test cases to comply with medical standards;
- Careful documentation;
- Optimize response-times and performance;
- Create architecture and technical specs;
- Implement in Python:
- Write Python code to implement the specs in a well-structured and maintainable way, including unit tests.
Required Skills and Experience
- Desire to work in a dynamic start-up environment;
- Be part of a stellar team including medical experts, software engineers and machine learning scientists;
- Display quiet confidence;
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills;
- Fluent in Python and broad familiarity with build/dev tools and languages;
- Experience with deployment and management of cloud infrastructures.
Desired skills
- Experience with machine learning concepts and libraries;
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like Theano or TensorFlow;
- Understanding of Quality Assurance (CE/FDA) software development process and requirements.
